Hurks is a family business that gives substance to its clients’ ambitions. The company was founded nearly a century ago and currently has a revenue of circa €350 million. Its 750 employees develop, construct and maintain spaces in which people can live, work, recover, shop and relax in comfort. These are all complex environments that require specialist knowledge, expertise and experience. Hurks has what it takes. From real estate developer and constructor to supplier and trade organisation. To optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations throughout the entire organisation, Hurks modernised and standardised all of its critical information systems in late 2013. The company selected Navision as its new ERP system and uses Ibis software for its calculations.
Implementation of new company software to check construction costs
“In the summer of 2013, we decided to replace the Kraan ERP system, which Hurks had been using for years, with Navision,” says Rob van Hofwegen, Hurks’ head of calculation who is based in Eindhoven. “As a direct result of this change, we also decided to replace the Kraan calculation software with IBIS-TRAD. That choice was based on both the available integration with Navision and the positive experiences with this combination of our colleagues at our branch in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Finally, IBIS-TRAD is the most commonly used software in the construction sector for the calculation of construction costs, which is another indicator of its applicability and quality. The implementation of Navision and IBIS-TRAD at Hurks took place in the fall of 2013, under the supervision of 4PS and Ibis. When I look back on that period, I can say that this major change project for our company-critical information systems was handled in a satisfactory and pragmatic manner.”
Growing demand for management and maintenance
In total, the Hurks branches in Eindhoven, 's-Hertogenbosch and Almere currently use more than 20 IBIS-TRAD licences, some of which have been expanded with the project module. “Because some people in our organisation already had extensive experience with calculating in IBIS-TRAD, our calculators did not need a course to learn how to work with the software. Ibis did act as a consultant during the programme’s initial setup,” van Hofwegen continues. “The software is easy to use and we can always rely on the experience our colleagues in ‘s-Hertogenbosch have with IBIS-TRAD. Looking forward, we see a growing demand from our clients for construction projects that include the management and multi-year maintenance of the object in question. To better satisfy this demand, we will also be looking into the possible applications of IBIS-MAIN this year.”
