Talis moves real estate management to the cloud

Real estate management in the cloud

Talis builds, rents out and manages around 14,000 residences in the Nijmegen/Wijchen area. This housing corporation sees proper living as more than just having a roof over your head. It therefore focuses on vibrant neighbourhoods and always puts its clients first. Talis is moving its real estate management to the cloud.

“To keep all residences in excellent condition, we also have our own contracting firm,” says Michaël van Roij, calculator and maintenance analyst. “These people carry out small maintenance tasks and listen to our clients’ questions and wishes. Together with our neighbourhood managers, they are our connection to the market. To get a better grip on our multi-year maintenance and its costs, we looked for a new software solution. IBIS-MAIN offered everything we wanted." talis echt

IT in the cloud

For more than a decade, Talis planned all its maintenance work with DC-MOP. Because the organisation felt a need for more detailed plans that included scenario analyses and improved control over budgets, Talis transitioned to IBIS-MAIN. “We first spoke to Ibis about our needs and wishes during the Bouwbeurs,” Van Roij continues. “An important condition for us was the ability to use all software via the cloud. That is how we use SAP as well. Although IBIS-MAIN was not yet available as a hosting service at the time, Ibis did everything it could to satisfy our demands as quickly as possible. They have extensive experience in that regard with their other applications, e.g. IBIS4Projects. That customer centricity and the organisation’s strong position in the construction sector were the main reasons for us to choose Ibis."

Above and beyond

Talis moved its IT to the cloud because it is not a core activity and doing so allowed the organisation to save costs. The company no longer has to invest in its own servers and storage capacity. Instead, it pays a monthly fee per user for the applications it needs. “Hosting requires confidence in the sharing of information,” Van Roij says. “You can create the optimal solution by communicating with each other openly. Looking back on our project, the people at Ibis showed exceptional involvement and care and went above and beyond in their service, particularly when it came to the data conversion process and setting up all reports while sticking to our tight schedule. Because IBIS-MAIN lets us plan and budget more accurately, we have gained insight into potential savings on non-cyclical activities and by better coordinating periodical maintenance. An added advantage is that we will not have to bother our clients as often in the future.”
